This specimen is Mimetite with Coronadite from Kintore Open Cut, Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, measuring 52 x 50 x 46 mm and weighing 133 g. It is drawn from the David Vince Collection. Mimetite is a lead arsenate in the same mineral group as Pyromorphite, typically forming small botryoidal crusts or crystals in shades of yellow, orange or brown. Coronadite is a lead-manganese oxide that forms as dark, often botryoidal or stalactitic crusts in manganese-rich oxidised environments. Kintore Open Cut is specifically recorded for producing Coronadite, so the intergrowth of the two species in a single specimen reflects a genuine, locality-consistent association within Broken Hill's oxidised zone rather than an unusual combination. At 52 x 50 x 46 mm and 133 g, the specimen has good cabinet presence, with both species represented in the one piece. Both minerals are moderately stable under normal display conditions, though as with most secondary oxide and arsenate crusts, handling by the matrix is preferable to touching the crystallised surfaces. The specimen's documented provenance is the David Vince Collection.
